Reading the Bible in light of the thoughts and intentions of those who created it
If you feel like you don’t have a good sense of how the Bible fits into history, you are not alone. Interest in the Bible is waning both in the churches and in the broader society. One of the ways to change this is to better understand the historical roots of the Christian Scriptures. Knowing more about the context and history behind the texts can help us to better understand those who wrote them and why, as well as how these writings came to be part of the canon.
The Blenheim program examines the Bible in relation to its canon history and thus helps to illuminate the people, events and perspectives described there in terms of how they helped to shape the development of the canon.
